BRYAN - Temple's Jaden Fuentes drove in four runs on two hits and Isaac Lara through a complete game as Temple defeated Bryan by a score of 9-2 on Tuesday night to sweep the season series against the Vikings.
Fuentes got the Wildcats off to a strong start with a 2 out 2 RBI single in the first to give Temple an early 3-0 lead over Bryan in the first.
Leading 4-2 going to the seventh, Temple erupted for five runs in the seventh to put the game well in hand. The Wildcats started the inning with four consecutive hits capped by Champ Mayo and Adrian Scott RBI singles. Fuentes would then deliver is second big hit of the night, a 2-run double to put Temple up 8-2 and later cap the scoring as he came home on an errant pickoff attempt.
Temple picked up 10 hits overall with Fuentes leading the way going 2-4 with a double and 4 RBI.
Also for the Wildcats, Xavier Tools was 2-3, 2 runs scored; Champ Mayo 2-4, RBI, 2 runs scored; Anthony Ramos 2-4; Cisco Gonzales 1-2, 2 BB, 1 run scored and Adrian Scott 1-4, RBI.
Picking up the win on the mound, Isaac Lara went 7 innings on the mound and gave up 2 runs on five hits, 4 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Temple improved to 4-3 in district play and will host Copperas Cove at Hallford Field on Friday beginning at 7:00 pm.
