Temple and Bryan each have found a slight resurgence on the baseball diamond since district play began last month. The Wildcats, winners of four of their last seven games entering Friday, and the Vikings — 3-2 in their last five — are in the running for a league playoff berth thanks to their recent successes.

But there’s still much work to do.

They met in a key District 12-6A tilt Friday as they opened their two-game series at Hallford Field with each looking to gain an upper hand in those postseason quests.

Temple dealt the first blow, in dramatic fashion.
