 Temple bounces back with 19-0 rout of Killeen in five innings

KILLEEN — Temple took a three-run lead and no-hitter into the final inning of the opener of its District 12-6A series with Killeen on Saturday. Then the Kangaroos struck back with fury.

The Wildcats unleashed all their brewing frustration in Tuesday’s finale at Kangaroo Field.

Cisco Gonzalez and Jacob Perez went a combined 5-for-5 at the plate and teamed up for a commanding one-hitter on the mound, this time taking a perfect game into the last inning as Temple dominated the Kangaroos from the start to record a 19-0, five-inning victory just a few days removed from dropping a tough home loss to its league rival.

A last-minute rally helped Killeen snap a 10-game skid and earn its first league win in Saturday’s opener of their two-game set, which was pushed back a day because of inclement weather.
