The Wildcats entered the seventh inning with a 3-0 lead and junior Champ Mayo throwing a masterpiece on the mound for the Wildcats as he tossed six innings of no-hit ball while striking out 11 batters.

However, a leadoff single by R Hernandez and back to back walks loaded the bases and ended the afternoon for Mayo. Killeen took advantage of the opportunity in front of them and scored seven runs in the top of the seventh and rallied to defeat Temple by a score of 7-5 at Hallford Field.

Temple jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on the Kangaroos as Cisco Gonzales led of with a single and Xavier Tools doubled to place runners at 2nd and 3rd. With Mayo at the plate, Gonzales scored on a passed ball and Tools used heads up base running to score on the same play from second base.

The Wildcats would extend their lead to 3-0 in the fourth with a 2-out triple from Adrian Scott and a RBI double off the bat of Isaac Lara.

Temple threatened to extend that lead in the sixth with a leadoff single from Mayo and walk from Jaden Fuentes. However, the threat was ended as Jacob Perez lined out into a double play.

Temple would try to overcome the seven runs by Killeen in the seventh with a pair of their own, but it was not enough as the Kangaroos took the 7-5 decision.

Temple collected 6 hits on the day with Cisco Gonzales leading the way going 1-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored while Isaac Lara was 1-3 with an RBI and double; Xavier Tools 1-2, double, RBI runs scored and Adrian Scott 1-1 with a triple and run scored.

After throwing 6 innings of no-hit ball, Champ Mayo finished with 6 innings pitched, giving up 3 runs on 1 hit, 5 walks while striking out 11. Jaden Fuentes came in relief and pitched one inning and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and striking out two.

Temple will return to play on Tuesday when they will travel to Killeen to take on the Kangaroos once again beginning at 7:00 pm.
