CORSICANA — The Temple Wildcats spent the last five seasons trying to overcome a first-round playoff roadblock that has stumped the squad. Friday’s Class 6A bi-district matchup against Dallas Skyline extended the stretch to five seasons and was a reminder of how quickly postseason matches can turn.

Temple grabbed an early 1-0 lead that was quickly erased by Skyline, which then shut out the Wildcats the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 victory.

Cristhian Torres scored goals less than 2 minutes apart for the Raiders (12-5-4), who trailed 1-0 for less than 90 seconds on their way to a second first-round win against the Wildcats (9-9-5) in as many years.

Jean Carlo Bautista Esmeralda catapulted Temple in front in the 14th minute.
