With the playoffs approaching and looking to rebound from a loss against District 12-6A-leading Hewitt Midway and a draw with last-place Killeen, the Temple Wildcats bounced back in a big way Friday night with a 5-0 rout of Bryan at Temple Soccer Complex.
Javier Orzua Sanchez led the way for the Wildcats (7-6-5, 5-2-3) with a pair of goals in the early going while the Vikings (6-9-1, 3-6-1) struggled against a Temple squad that controlled the game from the opening whistle.
The Wildcats took the lead for good when Sanchez, who was well-marked near the edge of the 18-yard box, put the ball between a defender’s legs and past Bryan goalkeeper Osvaldo Zuniga to give Temple a 1-0 lead just 11 minutes in.
