WILDCATS GO 0-1-1 AT LEANDER

Wildcats go 0-1-1 at Leander

LEANDER - The Temple Wildcat baseball team was able to return to the field on Monday afternoon following a week in which the they had the Leander Tournament cancelled due to the weather conditions.

Temple traveled to Leander to take on Leander High School in a double header. After a disappointing 13-3 loss to the Lions in Game 1, Temple and Leander played eleven inning of baseball to have the game called with a 6-6 tie.

In Game 1, the Wildcats dug themselves an early deficit of 9-0 as Jaden Fuentes took the loss going one inning as he gave up 9 runs on 7 hits while walking 4 batters and striking out one. Isaac Lara came into relief in the second and gave up 3 more runs but settled down for a solid three inning in which the three runs were unearned and gave up five hits during his time on the mound.

Temple managed to push across three runs in the top of the second with a Xavier Tools RBI double and a Jacob Perez RBI single.

Temple picked up four hits in the contest with Jacob Perez, Champ Mayo, Jaden Fuentes and Xavier Tools accounting for the hits.

Game 2 saw the Wildcats and Lions play 11 innings of baseball but still ended up with a 6-6 between the two ball clubs.

The Wildcats picked up 9 hits in the contest with Jaden Fuentes going 2-6 at the plate. Cisco Gonzales went 1-5 with an RBI; Jacob Perez 1-4, 2 RBI; Camp Mayo 1-5; Lezlie Jackson 1-3, RBI, run scored; Reese Medrano 1-3 and Anthony Ramos 1-2 with a run scored.

Champ Mayo started for Temple and went 6 innings giving up 5 runs on 9 hits while Cisco Gonzales went 4.1 innings and gave up one run on 4 hits. Xavier Tools closed out the game with 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

Temple (1-1-1) returns to action on Thursday in the KISD Tournament with games against Academy at 10:00 am and Weiss at 3:00 pm.
